Kettlebells do not work when you try to convert them into bodybuilding tools when they are clearly movement teaching tools that require a more 'mature' degree of technical bio-mechanical knowledge to operate.
Think of using a butter knife as a flat-head screwdriver; it works, but it's clearly the wrong tool for the job. Still following me?
Bicep curling or front raising the kettlebells when you can just simply swing the kettlebell for reps demonstrates ones inability and impatience to dedicate some worthwhile research and actual 'flight-time' on the basic basics of kettlebell swings.
Kettlebells also do not work when you 'trendily' use them without a structured exercise program (training system) in place. Proper warmups, Mobility work, Flexibility work, Agility work and Cool Down techniques must also be included in your 'workout' (I'd rather you use the word 'practice' in place of workout from now on, it will make you sound like you know a few things about human biomechanics and neurophysiology).
Kettlebells don't work... It really depends on who you ask. Ask a professional Strength and Conditioning coach and they might tell you that they are good to only a certain point (of course, I personally disagree).
My response, what's YOUR point in trying to use them as a supplemental exercise tool when you can utilize them as your main weapon, no backup, no Plan B, don't need one, thank you, fitness game over.
PLUS, I don't need a plethora of other tools wasting my space, my time and my money to get the Flexibility, Strength & Conditioning job done. Plan A works just fine if not more efficient with time and athlete/patient re-education.
Learning how to properly use the kettlebell within a comprehensive movement curriculum is the key to making them work for you. It's that simple (notice I didn't say it would be easier).
